Race178 has been a member of the Reno-Tahoe community for many years, dating back to when the company was founded in 2004. We have been giving back to our community that whole time.
When we started the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, we set up a relationship with two local nonprofit organizations, the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway (now the Tahoe-Pyramid Trail) and the Angel Kiss Foundation (now the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation). We still have those relationships today.
Over the years we have created more relationships with more nonprofit organizations including the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum, Girls on the Run -Sierras, Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Step 2, Reno High School’s We The People and Junior ROTC programs and Galena High School’s Leadership and Girls Varsity Soccer programs. We have contributed proceeds from our races. We have donated entries to our races. We have helped in many other ways including providing race equipment, shirts or race bibs.
We also started our own scholarship called the Journal Jog Scholarship. Since the 2014-2015 school year we have been awarding this scholarship to high school seniors heading off to college.
