It’s BACK! Join us for the 52nd running of the Journal Jog 8K – often referred to as “Reno’s Oldest Footrace”.

It has been a Reno tradition for years. This is a family friendly event and a great challenge to all levels of runners and walkers. Yes, the Competitive Stroller event is back so a parent can run, yes, run with their stroller and try to place in the top 3. All the rest will enter in the Run/Walk/Other stroller event.

The course will be the same as it has been for years so come be a part of history!

How do I get a Reno Running Fest Double Dare Medal?

Participants who complete the Reno Mile AND the Journal Jog will earn a special medal recognizing their achievement of two races in two days.


Anyone can run a mile. Run as many as 3 heats for one price. Be a part of the movement to Bring Back The Mile.

  1. Age Group Heats - timed: Participants register for this heat and run in their age group.
  2. Elite Mile Heats - timed: If you are a male who can run a 5:30 minute or faster mile or a female who can run a 6:00 or faster mile, please register for the Age Group Heats and submit your time to Eric by 9/1/20 to be considered for the Elite Mile men's or women's heats.
  3. Fun Mile Heat - untimed, registration required.
  4. Dog Mile Heat - run with your crowd-friendly pooch on a leash, untimed, registration required.

Reno's Main Drag Dash for kids 11 & under - approx. 50 yards, untimed, no need to register.

8K (4.97 mile) run/walk

There is a separate stroller division for runners who push a stroller. Walkers who push a stroller will be in the walk division.

Many team divisions including pairs, corporate and family groups, and the crazy caterpillars.
